Do you know how long I’ve been dying to tell you about this? A looong time. I’m so excited to finally be able to! Project Sewn is a sewing competition much like Project Runway, but blogger style. Oh, yeah. There are six bloggers and four weeks of competition. Each week, the competitors will show off what they made, then YOU get to vote on it! Then someone is sent home until there are three left. The final three then show their signature looks and you vote for the winner! So fun! Even better? You can sew along! Each Monday there will be a link up party for you to share your creations. I love that! You can see each week’s themes here. I can’t wait to see what everyone makes!
I was invited to be a contestant for season one but I had so much going on that I didn’t feel like I could give the contest the focus it deserved. It almost killed me to turn it down, but I had to. I was so sad. BUT I was then invited to be a part of season two and this time I was able to jump on board! I have had a blast working on each of my looks!
Once I received the themes, I took at least a month to brainstorm. I just dreamed and sketched my ideas out and hunted for the perfect fabrics. When you’re in a competition like this, it’s easy to get caught up trying to create what will get you the most votes. I decided from the first moment that I started planning my looks, that I would stay true to myself, create what I will actually wear and not go after the votes. Because, what if I get voted off on the first week? I don’t want to be stuck with a bunch of clothes that I will never actually wear. This process has been quite liberating! The work I have in front of me isn’t stressing me out and I’m really enjoying the process. I’ve been in sewing heaven all summer long! And I’m excited to share what I’ve been working on. The first week starts September 30th. I hope you’ll follow along and maybe even sew along! And if I get voted off week one, I’ll definitely share my looks with you here. Can you tell I’m excited? I’m excited.
