I just finished making my first Banksia top by Megan Nielsen. What a darling pattern! The Peter Pan collar is so sweet. The pattern originally comes with slightly longer sleeves, but I shortened mine by about three inches. I think this is a great pattern for those who are ready to dive into something a little harder than beginning sewing. It’s a little trickier, but not too bad. The hardest part is making the placket, and Megan has an easy and harder version depending on your skill level.

I cut my pattern out about a month ago, and have just been able to finish it this week. During this time, my body has begun to remember what I was like pre-pregnancy and has begun to quickly snap back. (Thank you body!) So when I finished my pattern, I found myself with a looser than I’d want top. I was about to take it in when I thought to myself that it would have been nice to have a cute blouse like this while I was going through the awkward body transformation phase of post-pregnancy. Someday I hope to have another baby, so I decided to hold off on alterations. Krista, this is a gift for your future awkward body after pregnancy. I think I’ll love it! This loose top still works just fine tucked into a skirt, and I think it would great with skinny jeans too! I think I’ll make another Banksia top soon. I adore the pattern and now I need one that fits! What an excellent problem to have!
